Our History in Brief

Thames Valley Housing was established in 1966, completing our first building project 2 years later. Our commitment to making home ownership more accessible was evident as far back as 1980, when we delivered our first shared ownership homes. In 1999 we were proud to sell the UK’s first home under the Government’s HomeBuy Scheme.

In 2001 we achieved Charter Mark accreditation, and we added to our quality standards a year later when we gained the Investors in People award.

Following our inspection, the Audit Commission awarded us a ‘Good’ 2-star rating in 2005. A year later we featured in the Sunday Times ‘Top 100 companies to work for list.’ In 2008 we brought affordable home ownership to the high street, opening our Homebuy4you sales shop in Camberley.

2009 saw us support a number of local projects through our newly launched Community Investment Programme.  In  2010 a consultation was carried out amongst our residents to find out what community services they required, and on this basis, we launched our Community Investment Strategy, targeting the three areas that needed it most; Rushmoor, Reading and Hounslow.

In 2010 we received praised for our "Well developed customer ethos" when we acheived Customer Service Excellence accreditation which replaced Charter Mark.  The same year we won 'What House' gold for the Best Large Housing Association and our development, St Mary's, Wokingham, won silver for Best shared ownership development.

In early 2011, we were delighted to be awarded Investors in People Gold; only one of three housing associations to receive this.  Most recently, Hurlington Court, a TVH development in Roehampton, won the Affordable Home Ownership awards Best Large Development.
