Residents of Thames Valley Housing (TVH) who are over 60 enjoyed a trip on the Thames and a day out in Brighton in early September, so they could give their views on how their housing needs were being met.
The first of the two trips was on a boat down the Thames, starting off in Kingston and returning via Hampton Court. The second, a day trip to Brighton, included lunch at the Regency Restaurant and fish and chips by the pier.
Staff from TVH were on hand at both events to chat to the residents about the quality of services they receive.
Fran Moynihan, TVH Resident Involvement Officer, who attended both events, said, “We needed to hear the views of older residents and we wanted them to talk to us in a relaxed, informal environment. They gave us plenty of useful information and everyone had a great day.”
The trips were one of three different types of Residents’ Days TVH organised this year. There were also a series of road shows for Tenants, and workshops for Home Owners.
Margaret Buchan, TVH Residents and Communities Manager, said, “In the past we’ve held one Residents’ Day for everyone but we felt we weren’t picking up on the varying needs of different groups of residents. This time, we’ve been able to gather much more targeted information which means we’ll be able to respond to the specific service requirements of all our residents much more successfully.”
