A father and his 18 year old son who’d been living together in a studio flat, now have their dream home with a bedroom each, thanks to Thames Valley Housing.
Amos Watson and his son, Zack, moved into their new home at Broadway House, right in the centre of Wimbledon, at the end of October, after 2 years living practically in each other’s pockets.
Amos said, “Living in the studio flat, we never had any space of our own. If you wanted some privacy you had to sit in the tiny kitchen. Sometimes you ended up sitting in the toilet and reading. We were really getting on each other’s nerves!
The location of our new home is fantastic. It’s easy to go for the weekly shop and travelling is also really easy as the station is just down the road. Having our own space has made a big difference to both our lives, especially for my son. He is preparing for his A levels and needs peace and quiet so he can study.”
Broadway House has been built by a partnership of Thames Valley Housing, Developer, Durkan Estates and the London Borough of Merton.
As well as Mr Watson’s flat, there are another 13, one and two bedroom flats for affordable rent. There are also 12, one and two bedroom flats for New Build HomeBuy. The development is just 5 minutes away from Wimbledon Tube and Train Stations as well as Wimbledon Shopping Centre.
John Baldwin, Housing Director, Thames Valley Housing, said, “We recognise the positive impact living in a decent home has on people and their hopes for the future. We are committed to providing well-located homes of a really high quality, that respond to the individual needs of all our residents and allow them to progress with their lives.”
