TVH resident with some of her new furniture

A young Mum from Bracknell has started off the new year with a flat full of brand new furniture thanks to her housing association.

Nicola Laker, who moved into her new Thames Valley Housing (TVH) managed home in December last year, was given the furniture bought for show homes used for affordable home ownership developments built and sold by TVH.

As well as affordable homes for part-ownership, TVH also develops and manages homes, which, like Nicola’s, are for affordable rent.

Nicola said, “My 2 year old daughter Brooke and I were living in my Mum and Dad’s house which was far from ideal.   I was really happy when I was offered my new home.   Around the same time as I signed the agreement with Thames Valley Housing they called to ask if I would like some furniture for my new home.  When I saw how new it was, I was really delighted.  I was able to choose sofa’s, tables, chairs and lots of other smaller things as well.   This is going to really help not just me, but my little girl as well. “

Niki Turner, Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing at TVH, said, “We know many people moving into affordable rented homes are often in a very difficult situation financially or personally.

‘’We also recently helped out one resident who had to flee her home, leaving everything, because of an abusive partner.  We were able to offer her a range of furniture for her home.

“In both cases, the timing has worked out really well, as the furniture became available from developments that had sold out, at the perfect time to help these particular residents.

The individual needs of our residents are at the heart of what we do and the whole company contributes in anyway it can to ensuring they benefit from the best quality home environment.”
