TVH residents will enjoy a taste of summer when they get free ice creams and hot chocolate in return for their views on what community services will benefit their neighbourhoods.

Thames Valley Housing (TVH) staff will be dishing out the cones from an ice cream van visiting their estates in Hounslow on the 5th and 6th of March. Further consultation are taking place on TVH estates in Rushmoor on the 7th and 8th and Reading on the 13th and 14th.

The consultation exercise is being carried out by TVH as part of their newly launched Community Investment Strategy.

The residents’ views will help define how investment of £150,000 will improve local services for the whole community, not just TVH residents.

The programme, which runs over 3 years, also includes work with local youth services, developing a Young People’s Forum, providing training & employment opportunities and administering TVH’s Community Chest, which funds wider community initiatives.

Paul Augarde, TVH, Community Investment Manager, TVH said, “We are passionate about our residents leading our understanding of service needs in their local areas. Through targeted partnerships with local service providers including councils, schools voluntary and community groups, we can invest in the service improvements that communities really want.
