Thames Valley Housing (TVH) has shared its plans to undertake additional commercial activities to subsidise the provision of affordable homes. Speaking at their annual stakeholders' meeting in central London, Chief Executive Geeta Nanda said that the association’s commitment to be a “housing business for a social purpose” has become increasingly important.

She said “TVH has developed homes without grant for many years, and we know that we need to expand on these activities to meet a wider range of housing needs. We are already considering our post 2015 development needs and land acquisitions to ensure our long term commitment to developing affordable homes that meet local housing need. We are looking forward to working with our partners to successfully deliver these plans.”

TVH Finance Director, Jack Stephen revealed it had been another year of strong financial performance for TVH. He said that the association’s financial strength will support the expansion of both its social housing programme and its planned commercial activities.

The event was attended by over 100 of the association’s partners from the Homes and Communities Agency and Local Authorities as well as banks, contractors, and developers. Guests looked back on the association’s successes in the financial year 2010/11, including the provision of 873 new homes, the achievement a healthy financial surplus of £11.2 million as well as gaining the Gold Investors in People award.
