Children at the James Elliman School in Slough will continue to enjoy fun and food at breakfast time, thanks to a grant from a local housing association.

Thames Valley Housing (TVH) has donated £5,000 from its Community Chest to help fund the school’s Breakfast Club, so more children can attend.

Paul Dieppe, head teacher at the James Elliman School said, “The cost of running the Breakfast Club has increased recently and children from low income families have been affected the most.  This grant will go a considerable way toward providing support for those children that need it most.”

The club aims to improve children’s health, behaviour and engagement, provide literacy support and improve self esteem and academic progress.

John Baldwin, TVH Director of Housing, said, “We are very proud to continue supporting this project which impacts so positively on the lives of the children who attend.  Children participate in various games and activities designed to promote social skills and social interaction depending on the child’s needs.”

This is the second time TVH has made a donation to the Breakfast Club, which runs from 8am until 8.45am every school morning for year 1 to year 6 pupils.
