A new housing consortium providing hundreds of affordable homes in London and the South East was launched in London on Friday 20th January.

The Thames Valley Housing Consortium will deliver 801 new homes by March 2015. 562 of the homes will be built for affordable rent and 239 will be available for affordable home ownership.

The consortium is made up of 5 Registered Providers. They are Ability Housing Association, Bracknell Forest Homes, Inquilab Housing Association, Richmond Housing Partnership plus lead partner Thames Valley Housing. Together they have entered into a £15.7 million delivery agreement with the Homes and Communities Agency as part of its Affordable Homes Programme.

Thames Valley Housing CEO, Geeta Nanda, said “We are delighted to have received the support of the HCA, which has enabled the consortium to come to fruition. By working together we can share best practice and combine our resources effectively while concentrating on our own areas of expertise. Together we will make a positive impact on the current housing market, where the fundamental problem is an undersupply of new affordable homes across all tenures.”

Thames Valley Housing will provide 401 of the 801 new homes to be delivered by the consortium. The remaining homes will be provided as follows:

Ability Housing Association - 27 homes

Bracknell Forest Homes - 105 homes

Inquilab Housing Association - 120 homes

Richmond Housing Partnership - 148 homes

Richard Hill, Deputy Chief Executive at the HCA, said: “It’s great to see organisations using close partnership working and shared objectives to maximise their collective impact in local areas.  Our Housing Association partners, like the Thames Valley Housing Consortium, have really stepped up to the challenge of delivering our Affordable Homes Programme and as a result we have signed contracts for the vast majority of the £1.8bn to be invested, which will help deliver up to 170,000 much needed new homes by 2015.”
