New Supported Housing To Be Opened in Development named after Kate Winslet - 10/12/01
Thames Valley Housing are delighted to announce the opening of 20 one- and two-bedroom flats for affordable rents.
Reading Borough Council allocated £850,000 in Social Housing Grant to Thames Valley Housing in return for nomination rights to the flats, which are located on a development which has been named after Titanic film star Kate Winslet who comes from Reading.
Five of the one-bedroom flats will provide supported accommodation for single people. The five residents in the supported accommodation will receive support and counselling services from the Reading Single Homeless Project who are working in partnership with Thames Valley Housing to provide a programme of Floating Support. This includes resettlement and community support services to enable social inclusion.
This is the second such partnership between Thames Valley Housing and the Reading Single Homeless Project. Tracey Harrington, Housing Manager at Reading Single Homeless Project, said, We are delighted to be working in partnership with TVHA. It is vital that organisations such as Thames Valley Housing and the Reading Single Homeless Project form positive partnerships when working to promote social inclusion of the more vulnerable members of the Reading community.
Cllr Mike Orton, Lead Councillor for Housing on Reading Borough Council said, I am delighted that this great development includes twenty badly needed affordable homes. It is also a pleasure that we are able to honour the success of our local star, Kate Winslet.
