Shared Ownership Development to open in Bracknell - 29/05/02
The worshipful The Mayor of Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Councillor Mrs Dorothy Haye, will open a new housing development at Rounds Hill, Pollard Row Avenue, Wokingham Road, Bracknell on Friday 31 May at 11am. This is the second phase of a development built by a partnership of Thames Valley Housing, Bracknell Forest Borough Council and Geoffrey Osborne Limited.
This second phase is made up of flats and houses and adds a further 26 homes to the 35 homes completed during phase 1. All the homes are for shared ownership, a part-buy, part-rent scheme for people who cannot afford a full mortgage. Phase 1 was funded by Bracknell Forest Borough Council, phase 2 was funded by Thames Valley Housing Association from private funding. All the homes have been sold to local authority nominees.
Thames Valley Housing are working in partnership with Bracknell Forest Borough Council on four other schemes in the borough. Keith Holloway, Chief Executive of Thames Valley Housing stressed the importance of the partnership saying:
Without the vision and commitment of the council, we would not provide as many homes and help local people with their first step on the home ownership ladder. We are delighted to deliver affordable schemes of this quality in partnership with Bracknell Forest Borough Council.
