Thames Valley Housing Wins £23.7m of Challenge Fund Cash - 20/11/02
Thames Valley Housing has won substantial funding from the Challenge Fund, securing £23.7m of the £200m allocation. This is one of the largest allocations to a single housing association.

The Challenge Fund was announced at the NHF Conference on 18 September by Housing Minister Lord Rooker. The objectives of the fund include increased provision of housing across the south east, particularly for key public sector workers, and the acceleration of innovative construction and partnering techniques, especially off-site manufacture. The scheme aims to provide homes more quickly and cost-effectively than the standard development programme.

The cash will go towards 333 homes principally in London and Berkshire. The allocation is for both rent and shared ownership homes, and includes some Section 106 sites as well as standalone developments by TVH.

"We are delighted by the size of the allocation, which is a tribute to our ability to deliver key government schemes,"said Keith Holloway, Chief Executive. "Our track record is demonstrated by the success of our Starter Homes Initiative programme - we have recently completed our 200th sale. This money from the Challenge Fund will help us to support our local authority partners in housing even more people in London and the South East."
