Mayor Takes Hat Off To Affordable Homes - 19/02/03
The Mayor of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Dorothy Hayes, reminisced about her own experiences of the building trade when she inspected work on a new affordable housing development at Bay Road, Bracknell. As the daughter of a site foreman, she took the opportunity to revisit old times and donned a hard hat to get a closer look at the site. She also spoke about the importance of partnerships such as this one with Thames Valley Housing in the provision of additional homes and support for those in housing need in the Borough.

The development of 15 one and two bedroom flats is just one of three sites currently being developed by Thames Valley Housing Association in partnership with Bracknell Forest Borough Council. The Mayor also visited two other developments, both situated on Broad Lane. Altogether the developments will provide an additional 65 affordable rented homes for people currently on the Borough housing register. One of the sites at Broad Lane includes a mother and baby unit, with seven bedspaces, where additional support can be provided for vulnerable new mothers. The first site to complete will be at Ogden Park, Broad Lane, where 16 flats have been built as part of a private development through an agreement with Laings Homes. The two remaining sites are being built by Zenith Builders.
