New staff accommodation at Hillingdon Hospital - 09/07/03
The Worshipful the Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Alf Langley, will get a special tour of new homes for nurses and doctors to celebrate the opening of 246 units of staff accommodation at The Hillingdon Hospital.
Cllr Alf Langley will join David McVittie, Chief Executive of the hospital, and Michael Barrott, Chair of Thames Valley Housing Association, to mark the completion of the new and refurbished accommodation.
Tours of two of the new flats will take place from 11 am for invited guests before the official ceremony is performed at Noon. Then guests will hear speeches from both David McVittie and Michael Barrott.
The accommodation, which is now owned by Thames Valley Housing, comprises of cluster flats with en-suite bedrooms for individual members of staff, and family flats. The accommodation, which was built by Willmott Dixon Housing Ltd through a partnering agreement, will be rented to staff nominated by the hospital at below market rates.
The new accommodation replaces a number of outdated staff rooms and offers staff a high standard of living in close proximity to their work place.
David McVittie, Chief Executive of The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust, said, We are delighted that by working in partnership with Thames Valley Housing Association we have been able to provide our staff with the standard of accommodation on site which they deserve.
