Environmentally-Friendly Homes Start on Site in Farnham - 23/09/03
The Mayor of the Waverley Borough Council, Councillor Richard Terry was present at the start on site of a new development of affordable housing at Cobbetts Way, Farnham.
The development of 30 properties for rent is being built by a partnership of Thames Valley Housing, Waverley Borough Council and Kier Partnership Homes.
The site has been built as an Amphion Development. The Amphion Consortium is made up of 17 Housing Associations including Thames Valley Housing, and Kier Partnership Homes, part of the Kier Group, one of the largest construction groups in the UK. Amphion homes are constructed using a system of pre-fabricated, insulated timber frames which are delivered to the site on a lorry and then erected by a specialist construction team. This process reduces the over-production of materials, reduces the time it takes to build the house, timber is a renewable source and the process is energy efficient and reduces fuel costs.
Keith Holloway, Chief Executive at Thames Valley Housing, said, We are delighted to have been able to assist the council in providing 30 urgently needed rented homes. The development, which uses the latest building techniques, demonstrates how good design can blend into an existing cottage style estate.
