Qualified success for housing staff - 13/12/05
Over 30 staff from 13 different housing providers were presented with their NVQ certificates at the Thames Valley Housing Training Centre “Graduation Day” on December 6th.
The certificates were presented by Roger Keller of the CIH and James Wilson from Asset Skills.
Roger Keller said, “Thames Valley Housing is an excellent example of how a housing organisation can deliver nationally accredited qualifications directly to its staff. The CIH welcomes this initiative and would encourage other housing organisations to explore the TVH model. The CIH also congratulates TVH on becoming an accredited centre to deliver CIH qualifications.”
James Wilson at Asset Skills, the Sector Skills Council for Housing, said, “Thames Valley Housing Training Centre is an outstanding model of good practice in the development and delivery of training. They have an excellent track record in providing NVQs and Modern Apprenticeships in Housing and Customer service. I would recommend them to any housing association that is serious about staff training in the workplace setting.”
He added, “NVQs can be a good way of demonstrating value for money in staff skills development. TVH is a shining example of best practice that other housing associations should share in the delivery of NVQ training or take advice on how to set up their own training centre.”
