Revere Way Resident Opens Development with Local Councillor. - 20/01/07
Councillor Natalie Rogers met Revere Way resident Joanna Bennet at a ceremony to mark the successful completion of 40 brand new affordable homes for local people at Revere Way, Ewell, on Friday 19th January.
The 20 homes for New Build Home buy (formerly Shared Ownership) and 20 homes for affordable rent were built by a partnership of Thames Valley Housing, Epsom and Ewell Borough Council, and Developer Wimpey Laing South West Homes.
This exciting development provides a combination of affordable homes at discount and market homes for sale. The affordable homes have been designed to fit in completely with the highly attractive, modern scheme, and offer both 1 and 2 bedroom flats, and houses for local people in housing need.
The new homes are extremely well served for public transport and a new bus bay has been built by the development. Ewell West Station is within 5 minutes walk of the site.
In Epsom and Ewell it is more expensive to buy a property than in certain parts of London increasing the need for affordable housing such as this scheme.
Cllr Rogers who performed the opening ceremony said, “One of the Council’s key priorities is to ‘secure additional key worker, social and affordable housing and this occasion represents another step in fulfilling its ambitions. Further homes are under construction in the borough, and we look forward to them being as successful as this has been when they are completed.”
Thames Valley Housing worked very closely with its partner, Epsom and Ewell Borough Council to develop the scheme. Keith Holloway, Thames Valley Housing Chief Executive said, ‘’This is one more example of the success of Partnering between the local authorities and housing associations to provide the best possible solution to the housing problem in the South East, especially in and around London. We are delighted to have worked with Epsom and Ewell Borough Council to provide these excellent new homes, specifically for local people. We hope we can do similar schemes with our partners elsewhere in the Borough’’.
Ends.
