Councillor for Housing Opens Elstead Affordable Homes - 28/02/07
Councillor Ken Reed, Portfolio Holder for Housing, met some of the residents from The Croft, a development of 18 affordable homes, at the opening for the development, at the site of the former Croft Nurseries in Elstead on Wednesday.
He presented Mrs Jocelyn White with a bouquet outside her two bedroom home, one of 13 houses for affordable rent. The development also has 5 houses for New Build Homebuy, formerly known as shared ownership.
The development was built in partnership with Thames Valley Housing, Bewley Homes Ltd and Waverley Borough Council and has been part funded by local authority housing grant of £960,000.
The event was also attended by Andrew Brooks, Land Manager of Bewley Homes, Steve Miller, Director of Airey Miller and Keith Holloway, Chief Executive of Thames Valley Housing. Keith Holloway, said, “We are delighted to be working with Waverley Borough Council to provide a range of affordable homes for local residents”.
Councillor Reed added: “It is highly gratifying that Thames Valley Housing and Waverley Borough Council have worked together in partnership to deliver these 18 affordable homes for occupation by people local to Elstead. They are highly desirable homes by any standards, showing such sensitivity to the surrounding environment, and will be greatly appreciated by those who live in them.”
