Swindon Councillor for Housing Meets Resident at New Affordable Homes - 17/10/07
Cllr Renard TVH and Taylor Wimpey Directors Councillor David Renard, Cabinet Member for Housing at Swindon Borough met Gareth Hutchinson, a resident of Celsus Grove; the first phase to be completed of a 3 phase development of affordable homes for New Build Home Buy, in Swindon, on Friday 12 October.

The development is being built by a partnership of Thames Valley Housing and Taylor Wimpey. The first phase provides 30 houses for New Build Home Buy (formerly Shared Ownership) including 7 houses with 2 and 3 bedrooms, and 23, 2 bedroom flats.

New Build Home Buy is a scheme where first time home buyers purchase a percentage of a property with a mortgage, then pay a reduced rent on the percentage they don’t own. They can purchase more or all of their property at any time.

The 30 homes are already sold, however they are only the first of three phases of this 104 affordable home development. A further 44 homes will be completed at the end of this year, and the final phase of 30 homes will be completed in August next year.

Cllr Renard said, ‘It is vitally important that Councils and Housing Associations work together to provide a range of opportunities to get people into affordable new homes, whether it’s low cost home ownership or for rent.

This development will give many more local people that opportunity with the bonus of being within easy reach of Old Town. The size of rooms and the quality if the interiors make these properties very desirable and I wish all the new residents many years of happiness in their homes’.
