TVH Affordable Housing Drop in Sales Centre opens in Camberley - 24/07/08
Thames Valley Housing Association (TVHA) has brought affordable housing sales to the High Street with the launch on 24th July of what is believed to be the first high street sales centre for affordable homes.
Located at 19-21 Park Street, Camberley, Surrey GU15 3PQ, the TVHA sales centre has already taken numerous applications for both new build and open market homes which can be sold through the HomeBuy programmes.
Members of the public and representatives from Thames Valley Housing Association enjoyed an open evening at the sales centre. It was an opportunity for people to find out what was on offer and how they could be helped to buy their own home. Local newly weds Amanda and Dean Overton said “having somewhere like this where you can go and get information is a brilliant idea as it makes the process much easier and more personal. We found the staff very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable”.
Through New Build HomeBuy, buyers can part-buy, part-rent a new home like those at the nearby Atrium development, at a price that is competitive with monthly rental costs.
Through the recently launched MyChoiceHomeBuy, qualifying first-time buyers with household earnings between £20,000 and £60,000 per annum are being helped through low interest equity loans of between 15 to 50 per cent of the open market property value.
The opening of the sales office was also welcomed by Cllr. Moira Gibson, Surrey Heath’s Leader of the Council, who commented that: “the Thames Valley Housing Association sales centre will generate greater knowledge and understanding of affordable housing amongst those who thought they would never be able to get a foot on the property ladder”
Geeta Nanda, Chief Executive of Thames Valley Housing Association, highlighted that: “Our purpose here is to make owning a home more accessible. First time buyers are still finding it almost impossible to make that all-important initial step onto the property ladder, despite a drop in property prices.
The HomeBuy options have become a very attractive – indeed essential - option for first time buyers wanting to own a home of their own”.
Members of the HomeBuy team are available seven days a week at the new Affordable Homes Sales Centre in Camberley to talk through each of the developments and schemes available through TVHA in London, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire and the Isle of Wight.
