Russians visit TVH Training Centre - 04/04/08
Thames Valley Housing played host to a team of Russian social housing delegates who are visiting the UK to learn more about how best to manage public housing systems.
The team of seven senior housing figures were taken on a tour of Thames Valley Housing’s learning centre at Twickenham, which is recognized across the UK for producing highly skilled employees.
The tour was organised by the Centre for Vocational Education and Training Studies in Moscow, which is currently working to modernise Russia’s vocational training and qualification system.
The Centre is working closely with Russian Government departments and employers in a range of sectors. They have looked closely at systems across Europe and are very interested in the UK’s national occupational standards and training programmes and qualifications.
So far the Centre has developed national standards for the Russian catering industry and is now developing systems for the housing/property management sector.
In the past Russia has had a very large stock of public housing that was managed by the public sector. The management of this housing stock is now being transferred to private companies.
Keith Holloway, CEO, Thames Valley Housing, said `It was a great honour to show what we are doing here in the UK. The delegates were especially interested in Thames Valley Housing’s training centre and how the qualifications we provide contribute to effective management of the homes we build and provide.
The visit was led by Anna Muraveva from the Centre for VET Studies who also acted as translator/interpreter.
The remaining delegates are senior managers from the MIRAX company (a housing management group). They are: Irina Berman, Vladimir Nechaev, Nina Minaeva, Anna Khaletskaya, Alexey Sarin and Olga Bezukladova.
