Aids and Adaptations

If you have a disability, you may qualify for aids and adaptations to your Thames Valley Housing (TVH) home.

Typical examples of adaptations TVH can fund are grab rails, additional stair handrails and construction of steps to entrances.

For larger adaptations, such has provision of level access showers or stair lifts, grant funding may be available from your Local Authority for the works.

To see if you qualify for adaptations, you will need to initially contact the Social Services department of your local authority who will arrange for an occupational therapist (OT) to visit you to assess your requirements.   You can read and download a list of local authority Social Services contacts at the foot of the page.

If the waiting time for the OT visit is likely to be longer than 3 months, then please contact us as we may be able to arrange a quicker visit.

The local authority will provide us with a report of any recommendations they make. Depending on the size and extent of the adaptations, funding for the works will be from TVH or from Local Authority grant funding.

If you feel that you would benefit from aids and adaptations to your home, or have any questions, please email Tom Wilkinson, Project Surveyor.  Please include your:
