Right to manage

If you own 100% of your home, and have more than 21 years left on your lease, you may have the right to take over the management of your block, which means you would take over organisation of the services, grounds and block maintenance and the service charge.

Right to Manage

If you own 100% of your home, and have more than 21 years left on your lease, you may have the right to take over the management of your block, which means you would take over organisation of the services, grounds and block maintenance and the service charge.

To qualify:

  • You and at least two thirds of the other flats must be occupied by leaseholders who own 100% of their home.
  • 50% of the 100% leaseholders must agree to the Right to Manage proposal.
  • Your block must be self-contained or capable of being redeveloped independently of the remainder of the building. (Redevelopment would not actually take place).
  • No more than 25% of the building must be let to commercial units.
  • You must form a ‘Right to Manage’ company first.

All flats must be self-contained and at least two thirds of the flats in the block must be occupied by qualifying tenants.

Those who agree must then form a Right to Manage Company before securing the Right to Manage. Download our leaflet on your Right to Manage. Alternatively you can call the Customer Service Centre on 0800 358 7767.

You can find out more from the Leasehold Advisory Service.
