Ending your tenancy
If you wish to end your tenancy, you need to:
- Give us four weeks’ notice in writing
- Print and post a signed copy if you email us
- Let us carry out an inspection of the property (If you have damaged the property, we may have to charge you for repairs)
- Clear your rent account
- Clear the house of all your belongings (If anything is left behind, we may charge you for the cost of removal)
- Return the keys to us by recorded delivery or by hand (You will be charged rent until this is done)
If a tenant dies, the next of kin needs to:
- Inform us of the death of their relative
- Send us a copy of the death certificate
- Remove the tenant’s belongings and return the key to us
(If this is done within 1 week of notification, no rent will be charged to the next of kin)
Mutual Exchanges
This is when you swap your home with another housing association or council tenant.
Homeswapper is a UK-wide mutual exchange web service free to TVH residents. You can exchange with anyone registered on the site.
Once you have registered and your details have been verified, you can search for advertised properties and other registered users can find out about your home.
You need to obtain our permission before the exchange can go ahead.
Transfers
We no longer hold transfer lists for tenants, except in cases of harassment and domestic abuse when we will work with the local authority to arrange a move.
If you wish to transfer to a different property because you need a larger or a smaller home, you should register with your local authority. You can get the contact details of your local authority here.
