Mutual Exchanges and Transfers

Mutual Exchanges

This is where you swap your TVH home for another tenant's home, provided they are a Housing Association or Council Tenant. You must have our written agreement before moving and follow a legal procedure.

You will need to meet certain criteria to be eligible and not have any rent arrears or other breaches of tenancy.

The properties must be suitable for the needs of both households and must not be overcrowded or under-occupied.

If you have a Secure Tenancy and you exchange with an Assured Tenancy property, you will lose your 'Right to Buy' the property. If you exchange into a Secure Tenancy you may acquire the 'Right to Buy'.

For further information about Mutual Exchanges call the Customer Service Centre on 0800 358 7767.

Transfers

Thames Valley Housing no longer holds a transfer list for tenants. Empty properties are given back to the Local Authority. You should register with your Local Authority if you wish a transfer.

Transfers for residents experiencing harassment and domestic violence

We will still respond to transfer requests from sufferers of harassment and domestic violence. We will work in conjunction with the Local Authority and supporting agencies to facilitate a move.

If you are experiencing any form of harassment, click here to find out how we can help you. If you are experiencing domestic violence, click here to find out how we can help you.
