Selling Your Property

You are free to sell your property at any time. This is called an 'assignment' and means you will be selling the leasehold.

You will need a solicitor to arrange the sale. Once you have a buyer you must tell your solicitor and they will arrange for a copy of the transaction to be sent to us. We have to give our legal consent to the assignment.

If you bought your property under the 'Right to Buy' or 'Right to Acquire'; you may have to repay some of the discount if you sell within 3 years:

In the first year you will have to pay back all the discount.

In the second year you will have to pay back two thirds of the discount.

In the third year you will have to pay back a third of the discount.
Your solicitor will advise you of this.

Please tell the estate agent selling your property that they are not allowed to put up 'For Sale' boards if your property is on an estate.
