Moving into your New Home

Defects Period 6 - 12 months after you move in

When you first move into a new house or flat and start living in it you are testing that your home is safe and secure. You should note down any defects you notice. After 6 - 12 months our consultants and builders will arrange a convenient time during normal working hours to visit your home.

A defect is:

Any part of the property that has not been built to agreed building standards as per building regulations.

Any item that is faulty on occupation that has not become faulty due to misuse.

A defect is not:

A door that is difficult to open because a thick carpet has been laid.

A cupboard that might be positioned higher than you would like.

A tile that has become loose due to very high winds (though this may be an insurable risk).

A planted area that dies due to hot weather.
