Become a Resident Board Member

How does a resident become a Board Member of TVH?

How? First you need to join your area Resident Consultative Group (RCG) and then you may be nominated to become a member of the Board of Thames Valley Housing Association if a vacancy arises. TVHA currently has its full complement of three Resident Board Members - they are Jennie Devereux, Roland Beadle and Steve Henson - but vacancies will occur in the future.

As a member of the Board of Thames Valley you will...
  • Be a direct line between the residents and the Board.
  • Be involved in making key decisions about how TVH is run.
  • Be able to contribute directly to the future of Thames Valley Housing.

We will give you...

  • Training to give you the skills and knowledge you need to be an effective board member.
  • Your own mentor. (Someone who will meet regularly with you, answer any questions you have and provide support.)
  • Travel and subsistence expenses.
  • Remember, there are three RCGs that cover the entire area that TVHA serves. These are the Greater London RCG, the M3 RCG (Guildford, Farnborough, Bracknell, etc) and the M4 RCG (Reading, Slough, Windsor etc). Now there is a fourth Joint RCC which brings together all three groups together and which any other resident can attend.

We would particularly like to hear from you if you are a resident with a black or minority ethnic background.

If you are interested in joining your local RCG with the option of becoming a board member contact Tim Brooks on 020 8607 0690 or send him an email. You can also download a factsheet with more details about criteria and the selection process.
