Construction, Electrical and Plumbing Training

Thames Valley Housing (TVH) is working to help interested TVH residents get qualifications and work placements in the construction industry.

Support into construction training

Some of our partners provide work placements for learners who join the training and pay their weekly wages while in training.

Interested residents can enrol at a local college and TVH can provide support with college applications. Learners will spend the first few months at college getting the theory they will need before they are allowed out on building sites. Once on site, learners will spend 4 days on site and 1 day in college each week.

In Rushmoor, we are also working with a project called 'Skilled Up' to provide some construction training.

If you are interested , please contact our Resident Training and Employment Team.

Electrical and Plumbing installation training at West London Training (WLT)

West London Training is offering free training in Electrical and Plumbing Installation for young people aged 16-18.

The City and Guilds accredited qualification runs for 2 1/2 days a week for 15 weeks.  The course will give a Level 1 qualification in performing engineering operations for either plumbing or electrical installation.

The qualification, along with a reference from WLT provides young people with excellent opportunities to gain a position as an apprentice.

Other training

We also provide training for people trying to get into grounds maintenance. All our opportunities are for those looking for worke experience or hoping to build on existing skills.

Many of the people that have joined our courses have gone on to study apprenticeships or paid employment.
