Thames Valley Housing: Housing Courses in Policy, Procedure and Practice

These courses are for Housing professionals providing theoretical and practical knowledge about a range of laws and practices in Housing. They are useful for those new to Housing and for those who have been working in sector for some time and wish to enhance their knowledge.

All courses are run by Linda Poole except Leasehold Management Training which is run by Margaret Briggs.

Lettings, Homelessness, Transfers and Exchanges	Provides knowledge of the law relating to these areas and the process in these areas.	1 Day
Rent and Arrears	Knowledge of best practice in preventing arrears and the process if this is unsuccessful.	1 Day
Technical Training for Non-Technical Staff	This course examines the repairs service, gives candidates repairs reporting skills and teaches about the Schedule of Rates using present technology.	2 Days
Voids and Property Inspection	This course assists candidates identify defects and repairs, order them and organise surveyors.	1 Day
Dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour	How to deal with anti-social behaviour using a housing and multi-agency approach.	1 Day
Abandoment, Illegal Occupancy and the Law	Knowledge of the law and practices for these areas. This course is mainly for estate-based staff responsible for tenancy matters and empty property management.	1 Day
Leasehold Management Training	Essential background information to Housing Law and recent changes in Leasehold Management.	2 Days
