Geeta Nanda, Chief Executive Officer at Thames Valley Housing (TVH), has been awarded an OBE for her services to social housing in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Geeta, who has worked in the housing sector for 26 years, was awarded the OBE in recognition of her strong commitment to ensuring the provision of social housing in London and the South East of England.
She praised staff she had worked with in the sector, saying “In housing you only achieve things through the efforts of the people you work with as well as your own. I’ve worked with fantastic staff across all levels of the organisations I’ve joined, all strongly committed to providing high quality housing and high quality services for our residents. It is these shared values and the hard work we all do that we should celebrate.”
As well as her role as CEO of TVH she is Chair the NHF, South East Region, of Academy 4 Housing and Vice Chair of Scope, where she has sat on the Board for 6 years. She was formerly Vice Chair of ASRA Housing Association.
John Garrity, Chair of TVH, said, “Geeta has shown outstanding leadership, drive and creativity in her role as CEO as well as her wider contribution to the housing sector. We are very pleased for Geeta, and her family, of this deserved recognition of her dedication and valued contribution to housing.”
Geeta began her career in housing when she joined Wandsworth Council as a graduate trainee in 1986. She was Group Operations Director at Notting Hill Housing Trust for 4 and a half years before joining TVH in 2008.
