This summer saw an immense amount of creativity in Hounslow, celebrating 50 years since the founding of the London Borough.

We were pleased to sponsor the Hounslow 50 project, run by Together We Create, via our Community Chest Fund. Over the last few months, the team at Together We Create ran a series of free creative workshops in various locations across Hounslow, including schools and libraries.

Tessa Bird, Thames Valley Housing’s (TVH) Community Investment Officer, said “The workshops encouraged local residents to look back in time at Hounslow 50 years ago, think about Hounslow today, and visualise what it will be like in 50 Years time. We chose the project for sponsorship because we have a lot of homes and residents in the area, and this was a really creative way to bring everyone together.”

Sarah Hoyle, the project’s founder said “the summer’s activities were great fun, and we saw all sorts of local residents at our sessions. Everyone who took part in the project was asked to draw or design or a postcard from the past, present and future. A simple concept but it got residents together who might not have been otherwise, and helped build our sense of community. We’ve displayed all of their efforts on our website here, as a permanent reminder and we’re hoping they’ll form part of an exhibition locally in the near future.”

Together We Create run a whole host of other community projects in the Hounslow area. Find out about them here or contact Sarah Hoyle on 0779 085 2379 or sarah@togetherwecreate.org.uk
