Thames Valley Housing (TVH) has won the National Housing Award’s Best Small Development award.
TVH received the award for Merton Road in Wimbledon, a 17 home development, including 9 homes for shared ownership and 8 homes for supported living for people with learning disabilities, delivered by Ability Housing.
Kush Rawal, Assistant Director (Sales and Marketing), TVH, said, “I delighted that this development has won as it is all about valuing diversity in the community. People on low incomes can get a foothold on the housing ladder, while people with disabilities are able to take their place within the wider community.”
“It is also a great example of two organisations working together. We lead on a consortium of four housing associations and Ability Housing is one of them. It was they who approached us to work alongside them on this fantastic example of a socially inclusive scheme.”
David Williams, Ability CEO said, “From the outside, the supported-living homes look no different from the shared-ownership homes but internally they feature wheelchair standards and assistive technologies. This is a great example of a partnership delivering true social inclusion”
Ability provides homes and support for people with a range of disabilities which ensure they can live as independently as possible.
