Foodbanks in South West London and the South East have received a boost thanks to funding from Thames Valley Housing (TVH). TVH has provided money from its Community Chest to the Slough, Richmond, Epsom & Ewell foodbanks and  Hounslow Foodbox.

The funding is going towards helping increase the working hours of managers, pay for part-time drivers to deliver food and other items to clients’ homes and has boosted supplies in the distribution centres.

Sue Sibany-King, manager of Slough Foodbank said “We’re grateful to TVH for partnering with us and referring any of their tenants who find that they’re struggling to feed themselves and their families.

We continue to see more and more people needing help to be able to eat on a daily basis. By working together we’re able to support TVH residents to maintain tenancies through difficult periods and avoid more people losing their homes.

Tessa Bird, Community Investment Officer at TVH said “Foodbanks are needed now more than ever before. Many people struggle to pay for food each day and it’s important that someone is there to support them. The foodbanks in Slough, Richmond, Epsom & Ewell and Hounslow all do amazing jobs in helping prevent food poverty and providing an invaluable service to people in their boroughs.”
