Thames Valley Housing working through an existing joint venture with Galliford Try has been selected as the preferred bidder by the Greater London Authority (GLA) to construct the Silvertown Way development in Canning Town, East London.
The scheme in Canning Town which will create over 1,100 mixed tenure homes across 11 individual blocks has an approximate gross development value of £360 million, and will be the biggest project undertaken by the joint venture which was formed in 2013.
Of the 1,100 new homes, 327 will be private rented sector homes. These will be part of the Fizzy portfolio, the privates rented sector business created by Thames Valley Housing. The remainder will be split evenly between affordable rent and private sale.
Geeta Nanda, CEO of Thames Valley Housing commented, “We are delighted to have been selected for this important regeneration scheme and we look forward to working with the GLA to bring this forward”.
“This is the fourth joint enterprise that we have secured through our development vehicle with Galliford Try and it will be a very significant project for both companies. Large regeneration schemes of this nature give us the chance to deliver a complete mix of housing and, when finished, will offer a community where private rental will sit beside housing for sale and affordable. Working on major schemes like this one in Canning Town provides us with the ability to bring forward the breadth of housing that the Capital so desperately needs and this is what we do well.”
