Staff from TVH have filled up two cars with food donations for two local foodbanks.
The food will go to to the Trussell Trust, Farnham, and Farnborough Foodbank. Staff donated items which could be stored and kept, placing their donations in boxes around the office over a four week period.
Staff at TVH are only too aware of the necessity of foodbanks as front line staff often have to sign post residents to the foodbanks, if they are struggling financially.
Alison Ibrahim, Tenancy Support Officer at TVH, said, “Having their benefits reduced or delayed, being made redundant and becoming single with children, are all reasons whey we often have to send our residents to foodbanks”.
“They don’t just provide food, staff at the foodbanks also take time to chat with clients and advise them about an array of beneficial services. We can now refer residents who are experiencing these difficulties to a local foodbanks, and in most cases issue food vouchers too.”
As well as the Trussell Trust and Farnham Foodbank, TVH works directly with foodbanks in other areas where it works. It is part of the Association’s ongoing work to provide support to residents experiencing financial hardship and being affected by welfare reform.
