Chair of the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA), Robert Napier, visited Kingsmoor Park in Woking on Tuesday 3rd February to tour a new 371 home site, including 224 for social rent.

Following the visit, Chairman of the HCA, Robert Napier, said: “It has been a pleasure today to meet all the organisations involved in making this development happen. I can see that it is providing affordable family homes in a location where they are very much needed, giving the opportunity for families to remain close to their local area.”

The homes are being built by Evolution; the Thames Valley Housing (TVH)-led consortium with Kier Partnership Homes. The other 147 homes will be for private sale. Geeta Nanda, CEO of TVH, who was at the visit, said, “I am delighted that we are part of delivering this important contribution to housing in Woking.”

“By working with Kier Partnership Homes, Woking Borough Council and the HCA we are demonstrating the success that imaginative partnerships between the private sector and the public sector can achieve to address the current housing deficit.”

The Chair was also joined by Woking Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Strategic Development Projects , Councillor David Bittleston, and Ray Morgan, Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council along with representatives from Kier Partnership Homes.

Councillor Bittleston said, “Woking has a considerable shortfall in affordable homes created by the pressures of high property values and the cost of land for development. This development will deliver much-needed decent, affordable and sustainable housing that will assist local families now and future generations to come.”

The development is made up mainly of two, three and four bedroom houses, and one and two bed apartments. They have all been designed and constructed by Kier Partnership Homes, to meet decent and lifetime home standards, sympathetic to the environment, community and the changing needs and lifestyles of occupants. Eight homes are to be adapted for wheelchair use.

As residents move into the homes, Thames Valley Housing will become the social landlord, responsible for all aspects of managing the properties including maintenance, repairs and housing management services, as well as community engagement.

The first residents are set to move in at the end of February 2015, with the remaining rented homes expected to be complete by the end of 2016.
