The first two weeks in August saw Thames Valley Housing (TVH) take their services on tour across a wide range of areas including Guildford, Reading, Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Hounslow, Slough and Bracknell. The properties TVH own and manage are so spread out, that it’s very difficult for some residents to visit the office and see staff in person, so the office was taken to them.
The tour bus began its journey in Surbiton and over the course of two weeks, acted as a drop in centre for residents to meet with their Housing, Revenues and Repairs Officers as well as Axis Maintenance, who were on hand to provide basic repairs services, and JustAsk Estate Services, TVH’s gardening contractors.
Eleanor Morgan, Resident Feedback Officer and TVH on Tour organiser said: “Its great getting out on the road – putting a human face to TVH. It’s not often that residents, staff, contractors and local stakeholders are all together in one place at the same time. It’s the best way we can share information, answer questions and find out residents’ priorities. Over the two weeks we’ve clarified cleaning and gardening queries, fixed taps, door handles and fences, spoken about ASB, parking and barbeques and even answered questions about how to buy shared ownership properties from non TVH residents. It’s a really positive experience and we’ll hopefully be repeating the Tour next year.”
David Clayton-Smith, TVH Chair said: “TVH on Tour gave us the opportunity to knock on residents’ doors, find out more about what they like about living in their development and also listen to any concerns that they may have.”
Over the two week period, TVH on Tour visited 18 different sites across London, Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire. TVH staff also met with 186 residents and performed over 50 small repairs on site, with many more reported.
