Thames Valley Housing (TVH) staff and local shops in Twickenham donated food, toys and books to the Salvation Army and the Hounslow Community FoodBox.

In addition to the annual collection at TVH head office, staff at the Association also roped in businesses in Twickenham to help local families in need this Christmas. The area’s My Local supermarket donated 9 large shopping bags of tins, cereal, pasta and rice. Iceland contributed with tinned foods and instant noodles. Waterstones, Boots, Poundland, and Happicraft also donated toys, books and hygiene products.

The donations were organised by Michelle Davis, TVH’s Tenancy Support Team Administrator. She said: “We had a very good response from the local businesses, and their donations really added to our collection this year.”

The majority of the donations where sent to the Hounslow Community FoodBox. This year alone, the charity has helped over 2500 people with emergency food supplies. Oonah Lacey, Project Advisor at the Hounslow Community FoodBox says: “We are absolutely delighted with the fantastic food donation from Thames Valley Housing. Their donation helped us provide 300 local residents with Christmas hampers and basic food supplies. This is a very difficult time of the year, as we know that there are many that cannot give their families a festive celebration, and the donation will mean that they are supported so that they too can provide for their families.”

The donations were delivered to the Salvation Army and the Hounslow Community FoodBox on the 18th of December by two members of Axis, the repairs contractor for Thames Valley Housing.
