Hounslow Community FoodBox

Project: Secure Referral Form – Hounslow

Funded: £5000

The Hounslow Community FoodBox charity provides emergency food for those in need living in the Borough of Hounslow. It also provides advice and support on welfare reform and financial inclusion with the emphasis on preventing residents getting into debt and poverty. It is developing a training and work placement service to help those seeking employment, including an accredited Food bank qualification for staff and volunteers. All residents can access the service through referral from a number of referral organisations including Thames Valley Housing Association.

Bid Summary: FoodBox wishes to develop an online referral process for all participating agencies. This needs to be secure and allow the collection of appropriate information to enable both the referring organisation and FoodBox to provide an effective service and collect important customer intelligence feedback.

In addition it has become evident that many clients due to mobility issues or lack of funds cannot manage to collect food from the distribution centres. This has meant that FoodBox has had to recruit a part time driver to collect and deliver food.to support the service. This is an additional service that was not funded by the grant from the London Borough of Hounslow.
