Cobham Area Foodbank

Type of organisation: Foodbank

Location: Elmbridge

We rely on donations of food from churches, schools, companies and individuals. This food is transported to our warehouse to be weighed, dated and sorted. There it is packed into ‘parcels’ and is then transported to the ‘distribution centre’ ready to be collected. Vouchers are given out by social workers, charities, CAB and other professionals to individuals or families in crisis. They then bring the voucher to the foodbank during our opening hours to collect their food parcel. We also provide tea, coffee and a listening ear at the Foodbank, and often signpost people to where they may get further support to resolve their issues.

What will I be doing?

We are a fairly new Foodbank and have yet to embark upon much fundraising. This is something we desperately need to do as we are now low on cash, but we do not have much fundraising experience within the team. We would love for somebody to help brainstorm and plan some fundraising ideas with us, and get us back on track for the future.   Helping to train our foodbank manager on fundraising best practise and sharing knowledge with her on how we can raise funds would be hugely useful.
