Type of organisation: Charity
Location: Aylesbury Vale
Home-Start Aylesbury provides a unique home-based visiting service delivered by volunteers to ordinary families going through extra-ordinary times. Our volunteers visit weekly to help families in the home until they get back on their feet. Our families can be going through a range of life-changing experiences from multi-births, bereavement, physical and mental illness and disability. Our service is about helping families come to terms with those changes, support them through that phase until they are able to cope by themselves. We aim to intervene early so that the family can learn to cope and then thrive. The family must have a child under the age of five but other than that we have no restrictions on who we will consider for support as long as they are in the Aylesbury Vale area. We have only two paid members of staff our service co-ordinator and office administrator other than that our service and trustee board is all delivered by volunteers. We are part of national organisation but are a local independent charity that receives no statutory financial support.
What will I be doing?
We require volunteers to support our marketing communications activity such as updating our website, creating supporting marketing materials. implementing social media stories and liaising/engaging with local contacts in the media and wider community. We are also require volunteers that can help with our fundraising efforts, either supporting applications for grants, creating fundraising opportunities and recruiting others to fundraise on our behalf. We also provide support for families to sign-post other support they may be entitled to so help with this aspect of work would also be appreciated. Finally, we are also looking for new trustees preferably with some of the above experience to join our management board. No previous experience is necessary but a close interest in the work we do is essential.
