Hounslow Community FoodBox

Type of organisation: Foodbank providing support, advice, and work placements

Location: Hounslow

The Hounslow Community FoodBox was set up in 2013 and provided food to over 2000 local residents.  Our aim is to prevent poverty and we are ensuring that we use all opportunities to improve the wellbeing of our clients. Our new initiative is healthy eating and lifestyles and we see this as critical for those living on low income. We provide a holistic service in partnership with over 150 referral partners.

What will I be doing?

We run corporate days where we give a brief introduction to the service and then let you run the project for the day. This will mean you could be preparing food for delivery and collection, sorting stores, making appointments for clients, helping to collect food at a supermarket, completing administration tasks- recording performance data, issuing a press release etc. We tailor the day to suit the interests of those attending.

Will any manual labour be involved? Yes

Will I get travel expenses?  Yes
