Type of organisation: Charity
Location: London Boroughs of Hounslow, Ealing, Hillingdon and Richmond
Spark! organises employability and enterprise activities to open students’ eyes to the work options available to them, and to help local businesses engage their future workforce.
What will I be doing?
We run an average of 50 school-based activities in local schools, each of which requires at least 20 volunteers. We would welcome volunteers for:
- Careers Workshops: running three 40-minute long workshops during a morning in school, with groups of 15-20 secondary school students (usually around 15 years old). There is always a teacher present in the room with you, and we recommend 2 or 3 volunteers run these sessions together. We will help you develop a workshop about your industry and help the young people understand the different routes available into GSK (or other STEM businesses). The workshops need to be as interactive as possible, which we can advise on.
- Speed Networking: can you spend an hour or two in a local school, being interviewed by groups of 8-10 students about your career?
- Mock Interviews: students receive a 15-20 minute one-on-one interview, receiving feedback and a certificate at the end. We will make sure you have a full information pack beforehand.
- Primary school activities: we are looking for volunteers for a new programme we now run in local primary schools.
Days and times needed:
- Monday – Friday
